Regrettable

Posted at my workplace is a confusing sign which begins thusly:

The family of Opal Jenkins* regrettably announces her transition.

And proceeds to announce the date and time of the "homegoing service," after which there will apparently take place a "repast."

Proud thesaurus owners: while I am sorry for your (presumable) loss, surely there is a more direct way to get your point across.

That is all.
